On Wednesday, December 10 2025 at 9 am, Cologne based artist David Hahlbrock will present his work in an artist talk at the Department of Textile Design (Faculty of Technical Engineering, University of Bihać). In his conceptual works, he explores the poetic potentials of ambivalences. Ambiguities emerge frequently in the context of ecologies, in the distinctions between architecture and landscape, and in the differentiation between nature and culture. These are moments where terms fail and seemingly obvious definitions no longer work. For David Hahlbrock, contradictions and ambiguities hold a strong impact. When he encounters ambivalence, he sees it as a source of poetic energy. He does not seek to resolve these ambiguities; instead, he amplifies them, sharpening them in questioning the narratives. In doing so, he aims to communicate his subjective perspectives within the situation – shaped by a sense of connection, concern, and hope, as well as by irony, critique, and humor.

David Hahlbrock (b.1980) is an interdisciplinary artist working in a wide variety of processes, media and materials. His works have been exhibited solo and in group shows since 2006 in galleries, museums, off-spaces and festivals around the world e.g. Centre Pompidou, Paris (F); Kunstmuseum Bonn (DE), Johnen Gallery, Berlin (DE); National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Goyang (SK); Sammlung Philara, Düsseldorf (DE); Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló, Castelló (ES); Museum Ludwig, Koblenz (DE). His latest project takes place at KRAK Centar in Bihać in cooperation with Kunststiftung NRW.
