On July 9th, 1998, Parliament of Una-Sana Canton issued a Decision, nr. 01-1-86/98 to establish the Faculty of Law. It is placed in the premises of elementary school Gornje Prekounje-Ripac, covering the area of ca. 900m2.
At the Faculty of Law, there is an acclimatized amphitheater with 220 seats and complementary technical and information equipment, then three classrooms equipped with 170 seats, students’ center, and Information center with internet connected into 20 units which is at disposal to students and teaching staff from 8.00 to18.00. Likewise, 6 teachers are employed on the permanent basis and 15 outside collaborators. There are also 4 assistant professors with Master degree and 2 assistants as subcontractors. To date, 34 teachers with PhD have worked at the Faculty. All four assistants obtained the Masters degree since the establishment of the Faculty, 1 studied in USA, 2 in Sarajevo, and two are still waiting to complete their Masters.
Until today, the deans have been the following professors: Prof. Dr. Ramo Atajic, Prof. Dr. Hilmija Šemic and Prof. Dr. Mujo Demirovic.
Since 2006/2007 ECTS has been introduced and it proved to have good results. Apart from regular lessons, the Faculty is in a continual cooperation with ABA CEELI- American Lawyer Chamber, whereupon Legal Clinics operate (administrative law, citizen law and criminal law). Isto Based on the Agreement with the Cantonal Court and Cantonal Lawyer Chambers, the third year students attend to court sessions. Professors and assistants of Criminal Law are responsible for this job.
